Description
An aged Iowa farm house that has seen several generations on the yard's tire swing slowly slips into yesterday. To understand the inspiration for this song, look at the lyrics to Harry Chapin's song, "Mail Order Annie..." "the winter wind comes whistling through the cracks there in the sod...you know you'll never have too many neighbors...but there's you babe, and there's me, and there's God..."

In addition to the banner, I am adding this more permanent recognition of its FEATURE on the homepage of A TREE OR TREES IN BLACK AND WHITE. I try mightily to feature only images that would be at home in a juried competition. No doubt that this image fits that bill. CONGRATULATIONS! And consider adding your image to DISCUSSIONS "Please post your featured photograph here" for greater, long-lasting visibility.

Roni, thank you very much for visiting...a very proud old farm house, still standing against time...your art is wonderful and much appreciated...

I have always like this photo very much when I first saw it in a contest. This really tells a story, that's for sure. The gradations are really nice in this photo. This is sensitively done, as also evidenced by your description.

Thanks, an abandoned farm house near Iowa City, Iowa, a cold December day, the snow was deep and the road was deeply rutted after I drove near the house on an unplowed road...I immediately thought of the Chapin song...am sure, "if these old walls could speak..." there would be many tales of the entire range of human emotions...best, D
