Artist's Description
Mr. Earl Robinson of Gautier, Mississippi, kindly agreed to have his photo taken while he was enjoying his cigarette outside of a local food store. Mr. Robinson is a Viet Nam War veteran and according to locals I spoke to has had many adjustment problems in his life. He was very kind to me and allow me to buy him lunch. As you can see in another photo in this series, the tags on his suit have not been removed. He wears a suit and tie every day. This was a sleepy, dusty, delta day when I met him--at least 95 degrees.

Love your series of Earl Robinson, this is my favorite, from the cigarette to the classy shoes. Without reading his bio, you could imagine a hundred stories from your pictorial.

Lenore, thank you very much for your kind comments...this was a difficult series for me, I asked him not to smile, but just be himself and I would just snap as he sat on the bench...I asked when we were finished if I could buy him lunch and he allowed me to give him money...I later heard the entire story of his daily wanderings and was glad to have met him and had the chance to spend a little time talking to him...a beautiful face...I really love his face...

David~This should be an award-winning series. Look at the colors of his suit!!! The photo in general is very colorful, indeed. Thank you for the story, which adds depth to our understanding. This is a glimpse into a life about which I am sure everyone would love to know more..... You seem to have caught the soul of the man. By knowing his even a little, we also know our own.
